Cookies Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can remember something between page loads. This page explains which cookies THE ROOST uses, what each is for, and how to switch them off.
THE ROOST uses very few cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share browsing data with advertising networks.
Essential cookies
These are required for the website to work and cannot be switched off without breaking it. They support core functionality, booking enquiries, secure sessions, spam prevention and performance.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
roost_admin |
Keeps a member of our team signed in to the staff admin panel. It is set only after a successful staff login and is never set for guests browsing the site. Flagged HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict, so it cannot be read by scripts or sent from another site. | 12 hours |
Alongside this, our server applies rate limiting and same-origin checks to the enquiry and booking forms to prevent spam and automated abuse. These work from the request itself and do not require a cookie.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies may be used to understand how visitors find and use the website — which pages are viewed, how people move through the booking enquiry, and where they encounter difficulty — so that we can improve the experience. This information is used in aggregate to inform design decisions; it is not used to identify you personally or to build an advertising profile.
At the date shown above, THE ROOST does not run any analytics or tracking scripts on this website. If we introduce analytics in future, we will update this page before doing so, and we will seek consent where the law requires it.
Functional cookies
Functional cookies remember preferences so the site behaves the way you expect on your next visit — for example a language or display choice.
THE ROOST does not currently set any functional cookies. Where your browser or device reports a preference such as reduced motion, we respect it, but that is read from your browser settings and is not stored in a cookie.
Third-party content
Some content is loaded from other providers, and those providers may set their own cookies once that content loads:
| Provider | Why it is on the page |
|---|---|
| Google Maps | Displays the map showing our location on the Find Us section. Loading the map may set cookies from Google, governed by Google's own privacy policy. |
| Fontshare | Delivers the typefaces used across the site. |
How to disable cookies
You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Every major browser allows this, usually under Settings → Privacy:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Safari — Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Please note that if you disable cookies entirely, some features of this website may not function correctly. Browsing the site, viewing rooms and sending a booking enquiry will continue to work, because those do not rely on cookies — but our team will not be able to sign in to the admin panel.
